When can my puppy/kitten get groomed?

All pets must be full vaccinated before they can be groomed at QPET. Pets should not be washed right after their vaccination, please confirm with your vet on exact details.

What brand of shampoo does QPET use?

QPET chooses to groom with Australian Made Plush Puppy, all natural grooming products for both canines and felines. Sensitive or medicated shampoo (Malaseb) can be used on request. Pets may bring their own shampoos.

Can my pet be groomed without a wash?

We strongly recommend your pet to be washed at QPET first, as we have to dry each pet to ensure their fur is prepared to be groomed properly and evenly. We cannot guarantee your pet can be groomed evenly if a customer insists the pet not be be washed with us, cost will not differ without a wash.

How long will my pet take to groom?

On drop-off we will give each customer an approximate pick up time, but this may change depending on how cooperative each pet is or due to unforeseen circumstances.

Can my double-coat pet be shaved?

QPET doesn't recommend double-coated dogs (including Pomeranians, Japanese Spitz, Corgi, Samoyed etc.) to be shaved as this could damage their coat, and may cause skin issues or alopecia. Customers can considered a scissor groom to tidy or shape their body. Enquire for a quote.

What happens if my pet is usually nervous?

Please let us know beforehand if you pet has any previous issues with grooming, that way we can better prepare our groomers and for your pet. Please note that if your pet is extremely nervous then we may not be able to groom them.

Does QPET groom senior dogs?

QPET doesn't recommend pets over 7+ years to groom with us, if you choose to groom with us please let us know beforehand. Senior pets can only be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. Please note that new environments and grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful for senior pets, and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate current problems.  Please make sure to inform us about any medical issues before their groom.

What is a hygiene clip?

A hygiene clip (or sanitary trim) refers to trimming or shaving the coat so it's shorter in the areas where pee or poo may otherwise stain or get stuck in the coat. Areas such as around the anus, genitals and abdomen.

Why does QPET not recommend de-matting?

De-matting is forcefully brushing out matts on a pet's coat which can cause stress and pain for your pet. The recommended way for mat removal is using a very short blade that will be able to cut between the matted hair and the skin. Please note there may be an extra charge for removing matting as groomers require extra time and extra attention for your pet.

Are there after effects of mat removal?

Mats can be difficult to remove and includes the risk of nicks, cuts or abrasion due to warts, moles or skin fold trapped in the mats. After effects of mat removal may include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations, abrasions and baldness. Mat's left in a pet's coat will only grow tighter, and can strangle the pet's skin or eventually tear it open.

Does QPET provide daycare services?

Unfortunately QPET does not provide any day care services, or any pick-up and delivery services. Clients can drop-off pets earlier and pick up later but this is only subject to availability, clients must inform us beforehand.
